Election Day
On Election Day, students learned about the democratic voting process. We then held our own class election, deciding which type of party our class would like to have. Students had to cast their vote in private, turn their ballot in the the ballot box, and then tally the votes as a class.
holidays around the world
In a quest to learn about and embrace other cultures, our students embarked on a "Holidays Around the World" trip. Students made suitcases for their upcoming departure. Each suitcase stores a "souvenir", or class art project, that relates to our lesson that day. To kick off each lesson, and get the students excited to "travel" to a new place, we watch airline videos preparing us for take off, airplane take offs from the cock pit view point, and google earth locations to help get us ready for our trip.
In addition, parent volunteers added to our fun and learning. For the holiday Las Posadas, a parent volunteer came in to share with the class her personal connection to the holiday, as well as the traditional foods her family would eat during this time.
